SA/NT Branch Report - May 2016

The SA/NT committee remains unchanged and is working with CASANZ to develop guidelines for officer positions. A review of membership revealed that some members may have been lost. This will be followed up with CASANZ.

The SA/NT Branch 1st committee meeting for 2016 was held in Adelaide on 16th February. The committee reviewed the status of action items set out in 2015. Matt Pickett provided a progress report on planning a joint technical presentation with the Australasian Radiation Protection Society (ARPS).

SA/NT Branch Site Visit -
Wednesday, 12 June, 2013

A site visit to Pacific Marine Batteries has been arranged for Wednesday, 12 June, 2013 at 3.00 pm.

PMB Defence (PMB) is a leading supplier of high quality energy and specialised engineering solutions for submarine platforms.  Formed in 1989, PMB began with a sole focus on producing the Main Storage Battery for the COLLINS Class of submarines.  Since 1989 PMB has continuously supplied Main Storage Batteries for the COLLINS Class, whilst growing an in‑country engineering capability.  PMB has evolved to be a dependable supplier of engineering services, battery and niche product solutions for both current and future submarine capabilities.

The intention with the program for 2013 is to focus on industry site visits and this is the first scheduled event.

Please note that for site tours flat-soled, enclosed shoes must be worn.

Training Courses

The Training Activities Executive (TAE) oversees the provision of air quality related training courses throughout Australia and New Zealand. Comprised of a Chair and a representative from each Branch Committee, it plans and co-ordinates the schedule of courses on request or rotationally through interested Branches. The South Australia and Nothern Territory Branch hosts training courses in Adelaide or, when there is sufficient interest, in regional centres. These include both introductory and advanced courses covering general air quality, ambient and emissions measurement, meteorology and modelling, pollution control and more. A forward schedule and course descriptions are provided on the training pages. Specific enquiries can be forwarded to the SA/NT branch training committee representative, while if you wish to register interest to attend a specific course please click here.
